Summer of ABCs: Letter O

This past week, Auby and I enjoyed our Summer of ABCs and "studied" the letter O.
I have to say this week was ok! Ok it was MORE than Ok. It was really fun! We enjoyed lots of fun O activities, but first, I have to tell you how it all began.

Each Sunday during our upstairs play time, I put the colorful plastic letters on the floor, and let Aubrey select our letter of the week. Typically she'll pick up many as they all tend to make it to her mouth... so I usually have to go with the very first one she chooses. Then I think of different activities we can do together. Usually all of the activities will begin with the letter; however, since our letter is O, I am also allowing the double oo, as I knew we would be taking a trip to the zoo earlier in the week. So enjoy a few of our O activities and fun times together.

This week we focused on different things that begin with the letter O or look like the letter O. We discussed all things orange and the number 0 of course. While I know that she's a bit too young, it is always fun to introduce her to new vocabulary.

As an elementary teacher, I absolutely LOVE arts and crafts. Aubrey does too, but mainly to pull, tear, and eat. So here is our octopus art fail before it was torn and made it's way to the floor. Even though it was a bit messy and of course didn't exactly turn out as adorable as I had originally planned, it was so fun to watch her get her hands dirty, to squish her little fingers in the paint, and to tear paper. Having fun and making memories are much more important than our artistic abilities. Later we did make this adorable hand octopus (of course having to add a few more tentacles)

This week we enjoyed oatmeal, octopus art, played with rings in the shape of an O, looked at circles that make an O,  the foam letter O, and talked about our favorite animal this week.

This week we went to the Dallas zOO with our sweet Fantlet friends and Kristin's sister, Jenn, and her adorable 18 month old, Ellie. It was such a fun trip and a fun way to include our Summer of ABCs and the letter o. You can read about it here.

Another favorite activity this week was chatting with Oma, Opa, and Owen, three of my favorite Os:)

So here's to week 2 and to our fun Summer of ABCs and the letter O.

Sweet Summer Time!

It has been so fun this summer to spend a little extra cuddle time with daddy whether it is in the morning or when he returns from work.

And when daddy is away... Auby sure does love to play. I would have to say little giraffes are her current favorite. This one has a sweet little music box and its body moves. I loved watching her look at her little giraffe friend and "talk" with it as well as wave it up and down. I mean come on... seriously too cute for words.

On this day, when daddy arrived home, we took little miss to Jason's Deli. That has become our dining of choice. She does so well at dinner... typically:) She usually gets lots of good stares and even a few waves. This night was exceptionally good. A super sweet couple waved and she did it back all on her own. Talk about adorable. Of course we ended our night with a few tummy kisses from daddy.

We sure our loving this sweet summer time at home!

Slack Wedding Reception

This past Friday, Ray and I ventured to the Windsor in Carrolton, TX to celebrate the marriage of Trey and Stephanie Slack. The two were married in early June and enjoyed a beautiful reception with family and friends back here upon their return. It was a fun time with such sweet family friends. Stephanie is Kristin's youngest sister who we have now known for almost a decade as well. We absolutely adore these friends who are like a second family to us.

Here's to a night of celebration, to beautiful décor, fabulous friends, delicious cake (let her have cake:), learning the wobble, and to Bryson stealing the night away with his magnificent moves on the dance floor.

After the night had come to a close and pictures were delivered, here are a few of my love and I during the reception.

I would also love to send a big thanks to our dear Ogle friends for watching our baby girl. I love that Aubrey had so much fun with sweet Eva Mae. I even got this sweet eye candy picture of the two girls playing.

What a fun night!

Baby Love Poem

I love you forever,
I love you for always.

To the moon and back,
For all of my days.

For good times and in bad.
For happy and in sad.

I will love you through and through.
I will always remember,

That God gave you me,
And God gave me you!

Love,
Mommy

Summer Zoo Fun!

What a fun day at the Dallas Zoo! Today Auby and I tagged along with our sweet Fantlet friends, Kristin's sister, Jenn, and Jenn's little lady at the zoo. While the weather forecast had previously predicted rain, it was absolutely bright and beautiful. It may have ended up on the hotter side, but it was still a fun outing with friends, and not crowded at all.

Once, we arrived (thanks again K for driving), and after a bit of traffic, we had arrived. Parking was a cinch when you arrive early.  So with baby hat (a little on the big side), Georgie the G-raff attached by rings to the stroller and all "essentials," we were ready to hit the ground running. We saw lots of animals including lions, leopards, giraffes, and even some slithering snakes and poisonous but adorable dart frogs. Bryson was very sweet to make sure that the crocodile didn't scare Aubrey too much. Oh how I love this bunch of kiddos.

After long walks, lots of animals, and a delicious picnic lunch inside the cool restaurant air, we decided to make a stop by the carousal for Bryson before our exit home. He was such a big boy. He was so excited to ride. I mean seriously... aren't these babes just adorable.

Thanks again to our sweet friends for the invite. We had a blast stroll'n with you at the zoo. We look forward to our next little outing together.

Weeks End Wrap Up: Mid June 2014

I am loving my summer time with my little. She is so much fun and so full of life and energy. Yes I am one of those mamas that takes countless pictures of my baby each day not being able to decide which one to choose so I choose them all. So here is a random picture post for baby girl for the mid month of June 2014 at eight months.

Eva Mae Birthday Girl & Our First Swim

Today we celebrated our friends' sweet little Eva Mae's first birthday. From adorable homemade pieces to delicious food, baby play, and our first "swim lessons," we had so much fun with our dear friends. The birthday girl even rolled up in some pretty cool wheels. I love that it had a little personalized touch.

The party place was absolutely perfect. We enjoyed our time on the patio above the pool. The weather was great. It was a bit overcast but absolutely a perfect day for some pool action. They even had lots of toys for the babes. Auby was everywhere. Ever since she was in my tummy, she has always been a mover... and today was no different;) I wouldn't have it any other way. It definitely keeps mama on her toes. But I sure do love this little munchkin.

(Auby loves to empty baskets. I hope one day she likes to put things back too:)

After sampling the delicious eats, catching up with friends, and enjoying some sweet baby play, it was time for Eva Mae's smash cake. The cake was too cute! Erin, you are one talented mama. It was absolutely adorable.

Aubrey even got in on a little cake action. She seemed to enjoy herself a little sugar. In a little over 3 months we will be enjoying lots of sweet sugar for our babe. It's crazy how quickly time flies.

After a bit of sweets, it was time for our first family swim. I was beyond excited to see how Aubs would do in the pool. She has her moments of excitement about bath time but usually is just kind of eh. So before our big dip in the pool, we had to take a family photo. Also important to note, this was my first time in a pool for almost 2 years. It was definitely an exciting time.

Her first dips with daddy were too cute. We started slowly and just let her get used to the water. She kicked her feet with so much excitement.

She loved swimming with mommy and daddy. She really enjoyed being on her tummy and definitely tried to lick the water up many a time. But after some fun swim kicks she took on a bit of water in her face and got a little grumpy. So mommy had some love and cuddle time in the water too. And easily we were all smiles as usual.

I love my little strawberry!
(on a sidenote I was so afraid all of her bathing suits would be too tiny but it was super cute)

We had so much fun with our sweet little baby friends. I am so excited for these little ladies and love that they will be so close in age. Here's to many more fun times, to baby play, and for sweet friends. Happy Birthday Miss Eva Mae. We hope it was as special as you are sweet girl.
