Summer of ABCs: Letter H

Week 4 of our Summer of ABCS has taken us to letter "H." This week we have enjoyed a lot of hand made crafts. On Monday we made these fun little pieces. We made a happy face and heart feet or as a sweet friend said, "happy feet." I just love how they came out. Auby LOVED having her feet painted. While she is not a fan of her hand prints, she laughed and giggled as the paint was smeared across her little piggies. It absolutely cracked me up for sure. We of course enjoyed lots of Hhhh babbles and our foam letters. We talked about different vocabulary such as the word help if she needs something and the word home. We made our "home" out of shapes including a square and triangle. We of course then talked more about our colors and shapes.

This was a fun little art project we did for daddy. It was absolutely perfect. You dab this imaginary ink and then press your desired object on the "magic" paper. No paint, no mess and little to no fuss from baby. I have to say our little week of learning about letter H has surely been a happy one:)

Summer of ABCs: Letter "E"

Week three is officially in the books. Last week, we enjoyed playing with the letter E. Monday, we had a fun play date with Erin and sweet Eva Mae. I sure do love these ladies and sweet friends. We enjoyed a delicious brunch and baby play time.

Throughout the week, we played with Auby's baby Einstein toy and our foam letter E. We made lots of babble E sounds and played with toy eggs. Happy Summer of ABCs and fun with the letter E!

Summer of ABCs: Letter O

This past week, Auby and I enjoyed our Summer of ABCs and "studied" the letter O.
I have to say this week was ok! Ok it was MORE than Ok. It was really fun! We enjoyed lots of fun O activities, but first, I have to tell you how it all began.

Each Sunday during our upstairs play time, I put the colorful plastic letters on the floor, and let Aubrey select our letter of the week. Typically she'll pick up many as they all tend to make it to her mouth... so I usually have to go with the very first one she chooses. Then I think of different activities we can do together. Usually all of the activities will begin with the letter; however, since our letter is O, I am also allowing the double oo, as I knew we would be taking a trip to the zoo earlier in the week. So enjoy a few of our O activities and fun times together.

This week we focused on different things that begin with the letter O or look like the letter O. We discussed all things orange and the number 0 of course. While I know that she's a bit too young, it is always fun to introduce her to new vocabulary.

As an elementary teacher, I absolutely LOVE arts and crafts. Aubrey does too, but mainly to pull, tear, and eat. So here is our octopus art fail before it was torn and made it's way to the floor. Even though it was a bit messy and of course didn't exactly turn out as adorable as I had originally planned, it was so fun to watch her get her hands dirty, to squish her little fingers in the paint, and to tear paper. Having fun and making memories are much more important than our artistic abilities. Later we did make this adorable hand octopus (of course having to add a few more tentacles)

This week we enjoyed oatmeal, octopus art, played with rings in the shape of an O, looked at circles that make an O,  the foam letter O, and talked about our favorite animal this week.

This week we went to the Dallas zOO with our sweet Fantlet friends and Kristin's sister, Jenn, and her adorable 18 month old, Ellie. It was such a fun trip and a fun way to include our Summer of ABCs and the letter o. You can read about it here.

Another favorite activity this week was chatting with Oma, Opa, and Owen, three of my favorite Os:)

So here's to week 2 and to our fun Summer of ABCs and the letter O.

Summer of ABCs: Letter M

Our first week of Summer of ABCs has been a lot of fun. This week we are focusing on the letter M. After spreading these multicolored plastic letters on the floor, baby girl selected our letter for the week. While I know Auby is a bit too young (understatement of the week) to understand any of this, it makes this mama and teacher's heart very proud to be introducing her to fun academic activities. It will be so fun to look back on this each year and see how we've progressed.

So here are a few of our activities this week that all focus on the letter M and the sound  Mmmmmmmmmmm.
On Monday, we were still in Sugar Land on our trip home to see our parentals. I definitely enjoyed this special moment with Auby and Daddy. It is our Music Monday and one of my favorite little moments of the trip. Oh how I adore that smile!

On my first day as a SSAHM, we enjoyed this special art project for daddy. I am titling this, Markings for Daddy. While Auby really didn't understand (at her young 8 months of age) what to do... it was fun to introduce her to crayons. She would pick each one up, attempt to put them in her mouth but mommy was too fast, and then drop them on the floor. We also are in the process of making a monkey. I've traced my little monkey's feet but the hands have been pretty impossible and little miss is always on the go these days. This project may take a bit more time, but I will update as soon as "we" are finished;)

After our project and a quick nap, we went to the market. Ok grocery store doesn't start with a "M", so I had to revamp a bit, but you get the picture. Aubrey was so fun to take to the store. She was so interested with everyone and everything. She definitely wanted to be held which would have made the trip a bit difficult, but she did great sitting in the child's seat. Goodness, she looked so big there. My babe is growing up so quickly.

This week, Aubrey started saying Mama. I have definitely cried a few tears of joy. Really talk about melt your heart moments and the one word I've been waiting on. I love this sweet photo. Auby and I have enjoyed a few brief moments outside in the beautiful but HOT sun. Isn't this hat beyond cute. Oh how I love this mini. 2 more months of fun and mama and baby moments.
Aubrey has loved these foam letters. The letter M foam letter stuck out to me;) Mainly eating, sitting, and tossing them around, but all in all she is pretty much in love with anything that she can pick up and eat at this time.

Thursday we took a trip to see our Fantlet friends. She had a fun time with her M and Em twins and big brother, Bryson. Since we are studying the letter M... I had to include her bestie, Madelynn.

Our week of letter M has been a blast! Friday should be a fun one. After a trip to see my team leader, co-workers, little Miss Cassidy, baby girl and I will be off to the Mall for our final M activity. I can't wait to see which letter she will chose next week.
