Trick-or-Treat!

Happy Halloween Blogger Friends!
This Halloween was a lot of fun! While we didn't have elaborate costumes or extravagant decorations, the husband and I had a fun time staying at home and passing out candy to trick-or-treaters. This was our first year in our house and first opportunity to do "the adult thing" and pass out candy to spooky ghosts and goblins. Before dinner, we had masked our yard in fresh graves line, spider webs, lights, and a bit of crate paper. But I think it came out great. This year, I think variations of Spiderman and Captain America were the biggest hit; however, I loved the sweet garden gnome, baby Elmo, and starwars characters. They were my favorite. Especially the little ones that could barely hold their candy buckets. But boy did they try. Ray and I decided with two very loud and confused pups, it might be a better idea to sit outside on the porch. It was a perfect night for tricks and treats. I think we did pretty well with candy this year, but sadly ended up with a lot of twislers at the end. We didn't want to be "that house" as Ray called it... you know the one that gives the bad candy. But hey I liked our options and we ended up passing out candy from 6:30-8:30. Not too shabby. We ended our night with American Horror Story. It was a fun night in. A truly great Halloween!

Last Sunday Lunch: Chili at the Hjertstedts

Sunday afternoon, the husband and I joined many of our ABF couples at the Hjertstedt household for a last Sunday lunch. On the menu included three types of chili, cornbread, salad, veggies (baby carrots) and dip, and of course delicious dessert.

* Sidenote: After leaving Bunco and a brief discussion about the meal, the husband and I decided to switch our meal to bring some extra chili. There had been an additional request for baby carrotts for the veggie tray which I included on our grocery list. I had been extremely exhausted and my amazing husband said that he would make a midnight run to the store and make chili that night. In the morning, I smelled the most delicious chili but saw a can of baby carrotts. Sadly I realized the mix up and ended up picking up some fresh ones on our way to Mana's. It was definitely a fun little side story.

The weather had been absolutely perfect for a chili lunch and outdoor fun. The gentleman enjoyed an afternoon of ping pong chapionships and lawn darts.

 

The ladies enjoyed some great conversation and catch up with the two little men, Pearson and Westin. In addition, our group is so excited for both Michelle and David as little Parker Hutchison will be joining us very soon.



In the background you can also see little Pearson who was on the move. I loved watching him go! He was sure excited to be with the "big boys!"

And oh how I love the sweet smiles of little Westin. He is the happiest little man! Plus I absolutely adore his sweet football hat. After lunch we continued with our time together and of course enjoyed a few pictures. I wish I had taken more.

A Spooky Bunco's Eve!

Saturday night I traveled to Rockwall with a few of our ABF ladies to enjoy some Spooky Bunco Funtivities. Upon arrival, it was clear that the host sure knew how to throw a party. The treats included festive witches brew, mumified pigs in a blanket, delicious queso, caramel apple slices, and tasty puppy chow.



With homemade bunco boards in hand, it was time for the first round to begin. This was my first experience with Bunco and it sure was a blast! While I was not on a winning side the majority of the time, I can say I did have my very first Bunco! Now I can't wait to do it again!

While the men were away the wives did play. As the ladies enjoyed a great night of Bunco,the gents were back at the house, playing some dominoes, and watching our Aggies take home a win over Auburn. Let's just say when we left, I had 27 missed texts from my Zellner family... a house very divided. All I have to say is I love my Aggies:)

I also received a very intersting text from Ray. It read... "And Westin pooped on me." I died laughing! I tried to imagine our men dealing laughing at the situation. Poor Ray. He is a trooper.

Sweet Saturday

What a sweet Saturday it was!

For months I had been complaining how my 3G iphone had been failing me miserably. From dropping calls, failing apps, and lost text messages, I had decided that enough was enough. Well shall I say that I had figured this out many a time... but did nothing about it. Ray then said, "Ok, we are GOING to get you a NEW phone THIS Saturday!" And so we did. It was such a great day. We slept in, picked up Taco C, and then stopped by the Apple Store to pick up this beauty! I am so happy

to have a new WORKING phone! Plus it has a better camera. So it was an all around great purchase. To top it all off or to put the cherry on the cake... Ray stopped by Haute Mama to pick us up some of my absolute favorite cupcakes! Boy was it sure a sweet Saturday indeed.

Crayola Trunk or Treat Fun!

Welcome to this year's Fall Festival Trunk or Treat at the Heights! Our theme was Crayola fun and we dressed up as crayons. I loved the themed box created by the Hares. Jenny and Tim did a fantastic job! Katy made the cute crayola outfits. I love the simplicity as well as the adorable idea. This was my first ever Trunk or Treat and I have to say it was super cute. I loved seeing all of the creative ideas, games, and decor pieces. The families had a blast. I of course enjoyed spending time with some of my favorite people. :)

Pumpkin Patching at Pumpkin on the Prairie

On Monday, the husband and I enjoyed an afternoon of pumpkin patching at our favorite Pumpkin on the Prairie in Frisco. School was closed for a fall break, which lead to a perfect afternoon together. Last weekend, we picked up a few orange pumpkins for our monthly Zellner cafe, but decided to look for a few decorative ones for All Hallows Eve.

This will be our first year to celebrate Halloween in our home. We are so excited!

The patch was full of different pumpkins. Big and small. Smooth and bumpy. I like the pumpkins with long stems and a different shape. I think it gives it character. While in the patch, we of course had to take our married picture. This makes 3 years of patching at Pumpkin on the Prairie. Each year it gets better and better.

From pumpkin patching to tasty Caramel Apple Cider and Salted Caramel Fraps from Starbucks, this was definitely a fun fall afternoon with my husband.

State Fair of Texas 2012: Sunday Funday

Our Zellner Sunday Funday took place at the State Fair of Texas.

After a morning trip on the dart and many stops later, we met up with our favorite Duke friends to enjoy a fabulous afternoon of fried food Fair fun!

 

With map in hand and very hungry tummies, we made our way to the designated fried food spots to try out some of this year's award winners. My sister-in-law, Rachel's facebook status, said it best, "About to break the caloric bank at the state fair." And boy was she right! Our fried options included...

and of course fried peanut better, jelly, and banana sandwich better known as "the Elvis."

After we had our fill on fried food, we decided to make our way around the park. Becky and Todd found a ride at a Haunted Mansion and decided to partake. They said it was super cheesy but really enjoyed it:)

I am all for Halloween and Haunted theme houses as this was such a super cute picture... but those clowns behind them were super creepy.



Our group then made our way to the Ferris Wheel. Since this was Stephanie's and our family's first time at the fair it was determined that they needed to enjoy a Texas-sized ferris wheel with a view.

After the ferris wheel, we went to see a craft show, the petting zoo, and dine on some fabulous red velvet funnel cake.



At about 4:00 we were pretty faired out, and decided to make our way home.

Our Zellner family would be leaving shortly for their trip back to Houston, and it was time to say our good-byes.  

I sure love my family and friends and am so thankful for Sunday Fundays just like this:)
