To such an amazing friend, I am so very thankful for you and for our friendship. I wish you another year of amazing adventure and opportunity. Congrats again on the new addition and all the wonderful blessings... we love you guys! Happy twenty-seventh birthday!

Toodles to Tuesday

Happy Tuesday fellow bloggers. How long has it been since I've updated us Tidbit Tuesday style?!?! No really, sadly I do not want to check but I can only assume that it has been a little while. I haven't posted a weekend wrap up, a tuesday tidbit, a wordless wednesday, and the list continues to go on and on. I guess that's what happens when you get busy... lazy... or just tired. I might claim all three. Love it! Anyway, so it's that time again. Time for lots of random thoughts but hopefully I will try to do us some justice again so you know what the Zellner fam has been up to. Of course more pictures will soon follow. Still kind of waiting on getting a camera but I shall provide one soon... just saving those pretty pennies currently... so you may just be stuck with what you get:)
Of course in no logical order.... coming to you from beautiful North Dallas... your random tuesday tidbits:

1. Today we enjoyed PJ day at our school
2. I am almost 100% better... still working out a few little percentiles... which means I'm working this cough out of my system... and hopefully fast
3. I think I made my husband sick :(
4. Tomorrow Ray and I are enjoying a wonderful PJ party night at home... relaxing
5. Tonight the hubs and I met up with Stephanie and Adam at Buffalo Wild Wings to celebrate her 27th birthday
6. I love sweet tea... maybe a little too much
7. The hubs and I have slept dog free for over a week and are loving it. Even though I LOVE our furbabies... I will never share our bed with a dog
8. Currently our apartment is smelling a bit like smoke so I'm hoping to get this problem fixed ASAP!
9. I cannot wait to decorate for Fall... techically I could have started this already, but this is where the lazy part comes in
10. Our fall carnival at school is November 5
11. We will be raising money for the Uganda water project for our Dallas White Rock Race on December 5, 2010
12. October 16, 2010 is my last official class for my teaching certification... don't get too excited I still have some online classes and one more content test to pass before becoming "official"
13. We still are living without cable or any regular tv channels until we purchase the correct equipment... currently loving Hulu when possible
14. Yesterday I did my first 5K in over a month... this girl needs some motivation!
15. Both dogs are officially in great health... Toby needs to lose about 3 pounds of extra love'n
16. I could not be more excited for Duke family and baby Duke who is currently the size of a lemon
17. Ray and I will be celebrating our one year anniversary on November 14, 2010! Seriously the BEST year of my life. I have been so blessed with such a wonderful husband!
18. I have gotten old. Is it bad that I try to go to bed around 9PM and wake up before 6AM? Will this change? Ha
19. I love and miss my family... I cannot wait for the holidays!
20. Currently already starting to plan for our annual PUMPKIN CARVING PARTY!

I guess that's enough for now. I wish you all such a wonderful week. A week filled with adventures, randomness, and even a little bit of laziness! Enjoy it all. Until next time...

Alicia

State Fair and Fried Food Fun!

Well it's about that time again. Time to head to Fair Park for some great food and great fun. This past Sunday we had the opportunity to attend the Texas State Fair with our amazing friends, the Fants. What an absolutely beautiful day! We enjoyed three amazing shows from an African acrabat group, to a Pirates of the Carribean inspired diving show, to dancing dobermans.

African Acrobats
Pirates... Arrrrrrrrrrrrg!

We feasted on fair food including Texas style jumbo nachos for the ladies... the chips were in the shape of Texas, a hamburger and fries for Michael... and of course my husband went the Greek route and ended up having some type of interesting meat wrapped in grape leaves set on top of pita bread. Almost all options seemed extremely tasty.

While walking around the Fair we came across many great sights. But my eyes and thoughts were mainly on the fried food options. I mean come on... how can you go to the fair without trying some new fried creation. Ok I guess mine wasn't exactly new. The thought of fried beer ravioli type option was NOT really what I had in mind. So I guess I played it safe... but boy was it absolutely delicious. Our fried options included... fried pickles, corn dog, fried cheesecake, and hot buttered corn. Again all great options but I think the fried cheesecake definitely won my heart... even though I was totally having a battle with the powdered sugar that somehow continued to blow back all over my entire outfit.

We explored the grounds and even went to the car show where I found my "mama car..." a Nissan Murano SL in the most perfect color. I'll keep my fingers crossed but not hold my breath. Ha. Also I was informed by my husband that a few of the buttons may have to be removed for me to drive it. Sadly he's probably right. I would be on button and command overload. Ha! Then on to more Fair Fun and pictures of course!

I was so proud of this little man. He made it through the entire day and was such a trooper. We are so excited to share in his first Fair experience:)

We even had an opportunity to stop by the petting zoo. Bryson was so excited to see all the wonderful animals.

Adventures in North Texas!

"Life is uncharted territory. It reveals its story one moment at a time."
- Leo F. Buscaglia

I owe all my greatest adventures to the best travel partner in the world. To a husband that never ceases to amaze me or tells me no:) Enjoy some of our fun activities this beautiful first weekend of October 2010.

Friday night, I was getting over a two week sickness... so what better than a fun movie date night at home with the hubs and pups as well as with yummy McAlisters for dinner.

Saturday was absolute perfection. It was the first day that I have felt like a normal person and not like a bump on a log... coughing, sneezing, and carrying around all types of meds to get me through the day. We woke up at 7:30 compliments to the pups...now that they are no longer in our bed they do like to wake us up a lot earlier... but on a side note... this has been one of the greatest achievements of our time.
Our next desire was to find a super cute donut shop right by our new apartment... we were successful. The lady even hooked us up with some free donut holes. Always a great way to start the morning. We then headed over to Walmart for some much needed essentials and grocery shopping of course. Throughout the move we have actually been so busy that grocery shopping was definitely not on the top of our list, so it is super nice to actually have some good healthy food back in our fridge. After Walmart we decided to take the pups to the lake near the new home and go for a walk. The weather has been absolutely amazing and we couldn't think of anything better to do then to be outside and enjoy it.

Taking the pups on new uncharted pathways

Mattie loved to run to see the ducks. Toby was of course more reserved. No we should be honest, he was terrified. Poor puppy is afraid of feathers in general. I couldn't imagine him with ones that could run at him.

The beautiful lake

After a few miles around the lake, the pups were pooped. So we dropped them off at the apartment and the adults decided to go get some fro yo at Yumilicious in Allen.

It was exactly what we needed. I ordered the cake batter with fresh strawberries while Ray enjoyed the Dolce de Leche with mixed fixings. Again both super great choices.
Now to understand this next portion I may have to give you a bit of background. This past Saturday was the day of the big OU and Texas Game... we are currently without cable. Now this was not a game that would hurt my feelings either way, but I knew it was something that Ray had really wanted to see. So I was so thankful that Yumilicious had great tvs and we did end up catching the last two quarters while watching a victorious ending where OU BTHO Texas. Sorry my Texas friends and fam. An Aggie girls gotta keep to her roots.
...
We then ended our night watching our favorite shows on Hulu and turned into bed early. I gotta say this growing up thing is pretty awesome. I love that we wake up earlier and get to enjoy more of our day together. I love having a new home with new adventures. So here's to the many more to come!

The Sick Bug Has Moved In!

Well as the title of the blog shows... I HAVE BEEN SICK. This isn't the typical once a year sort of 24 hour bug... but the bug as shown on the "Mucinex commercials" that has moved in and has currently refused to leave. I have honestly been sick now for over a week. I was advised when I took this job that it wasn't if I would get sick but when and for how long. My immune system was just not out to fight all the different germs that being around small children provides. I did see it interesting and very ironic that our topic this week was all about (well if you can't guess) it was about GERMS and how important it is to wash our hands, use tissues, and cough into our elbows... all the things that I had done over and over but had lost in the battle. So after a huge coughing battle on Wednesday at our usual staff meeting, I knew it was time to bite the bullet and go to Carenow. I pretty much self diagnosed my condition as a sinus infection and with only a short visit later found out I was correct and was given two prescriptions as well as advised to continue the Mucinex. For the past two days I have been home. I'm so hoping to get better before the weekend... not that I have a full list of things to do... but this illness has cost me several fun outings, a move, and a weekend of relaxation... so I'm hoping to get rid of this thing and FAST!

Plus I am so sick of feeling sick. While I would love to get some additional rest, the meds I'm taking (one a steriod) actually keeps me awake and the worst part makes my cheeks turn bright red and hot. I guess that's not too bad of a side effect. But what I can say with this "extra time" I have watched so many movies in the past two days. I want to say I've seen probably 20 since we don't have cable. Ok I may be exaggerating a bit... but seriously... kind of crazy to think of.

So anyway... our internet is finally up and working at our new home in McKinney so do expect MANY MANY more blogs to update you on all the more fun things (this time i can exclude all the sickness) that we've been up to. Wishing you well and healthy!

Love,
Alicia
