Auby Month-iversary Series: 18 Months +2 Days

Dear Auby
To our spunky monkey and my mini. As I say almost every month, this is by far my most favorite. From your running huggies, blowing kisses, baby play, daily snuggles, daily reads, to all of your newness, cautiousness, and exploration, mommy and daddy have surely been on our toes this month. We cannot believe our little girl is a year and a half. You continue to amaze us. I'm so excited what this month has in store for us. All our love big girl!

Date: 4/7/2015 (plus two days)
Age: 18 months: A year and a half.
Measurements: 23.8 lbs (38%); height 32.5 in (75%); head circum 17.75 (14%)
Clothing: You wear 18-24 month clothing and wear a size 4 diaper. You are in size 5 shoe. You love playing with your socks and really try to "put on" your own shoes. You are far from it, but it is cute that you attempt as well as try to put on your mommy and daddy's shoes. Mommy loves bows but you are very indifferent and really don't like to wear them. Headbands are currently a no go. You are such a great changer these days. The previous few months, you would run from me and were not a fan of being changed. Now you are trying to be my big helper and it makes this mommy so much happier.
Eating: You love food. Your favorite is broccoli, strawberries, blueberries, cheese, fishies, veggie straws, cookies (limited of course), black beans, bread, and milk of course.
*This month you are officially off ALL bottles. Yep, it took us until 18 months. You did it on your own. While we tried to take you off at 16 months, you lost almost 2 lbs and refused to drink milk. Slowly you became more accustomed to taking an ounce or two and mommy just couldn't stomach you crying for food in your sleep. I mean seriously. What baby wakes up at 3AM crying for broccoli? It broke my heart. So we used one bottle in the morning and one before bed. Then one day, after taking a little friend's milk cup at daycare, you began to drink more milk. So we went and purchased that same cup in about three different colors and you drank milk from a cup like a big girl from that moment forward.
Teeth: You have 8 teeth, 4 top and 4 bottom.You have your molars. Teething has not been a problem at all this month.
Sleeping:You are a champ sleeper. I hate to ever mention that as I feel like I'm going to jinx it; but you really are. You are one of the best nappers at daycare. You typically take a two plus hour nap at school as well as at home on weekends. Please know this was NOT always the case. We are in a great season of sleeping, so I shall enjoy it until our next season. During the week, you wake up at 6AM and go down at 7PM. During the weekends, you wake up around 7 or 7:30AM and go down at 7PM. Some days you will surprise us and sleep in until 8AM. You love sleeping with loveys and your blanky. You sleep with Owl, Dotty the giraffe, puppy, and pillow. When you wake up, you have to take about half of your loveys out of your bed with you, read a book and then we may change in the morning.
New Activities and Random Tidbits:
- new words: animal and food names: adigator (alligator), peacock, bufferfy, (butterfly), nana (banana), yogurt, side (slide), read-it, Noah, airpane (airplane), backe (back), bow, tickle toes,
- say cheese and smile before I take a picture
- sneezed and said, "achoo"
- enjoyed first confetti egg play with Fantlet friends. Asked for more.
- school egg hunt and spring fling 3.27.15
- said good-bye to teacher Ms. Tisha
- love your new plastic slide
- climbed up the Fants jungle gym all by yourself
- You are our little miss shy and independent lady.
- Your favorite books are Peekaboo Baby, The Wheels on the Bus (music book), Prayer Book, Noah's Big Boat, Moo Baa La La La. You LOVE books!
- enjoy looking at the large fish tank at church outside of the nursery
- enjoyed an Easter service and egg hunt
- We took a family trip to the zoo earlier this April. We saw the giants of the jurasic. You were not a fan of animatronic dinosaurs but loved the choo choo train.
- You like to pat pat Mattie as well as tell her no and to sit down.
- You are very territorial of our stuffed animals and make sure Mattie knows they are not hers.
You are better able to communicate your wants with us. We ask you to use your words. This usually works, but then other times we just gotta keep asking until you find equal happiness with something else.
- You will organize your books at school and put away your toys. Oh this makes my teacher's heart so incredibly happy.
- can clasp the buckles on your car seat (the easy snap across your chest)

Likes: mommy and daddy, books, fishies, slides, horsey, going outside, strawberries, blueberries, tickling your toes at dinner, your Little Tikes garden, kitchen, baby and stroller, Elmo, Mickey, the hot dog dance, your night time loveys, buckles
Dislikes: riding in cars, being told no, not getting what you want immediately, closed gates and doors,

{12-18 months}
 We love you dear babe!

Real, Every Day Life

I absolutely adore this picture. It is my beautiful family. It is the family I prayed for as a child. I married my best friend and celebrate life with him each day. Our little mini is a wonderfully fun, happy, and healthy girl. But I love what it doesn't show. It doesn't show our every day life. The fact that my little girl is watching Mickey because she had a melt down only moments before. It doesn't show the mama cuddles or wiping of her tears. It doesn't show the piles of laundry that are on both sides of the couch and behind the wall, in our bedroom but are left there so we can spend the hour or two together before baby goes to bed. The picture forgets to detail that I had an early morning and am pretty exhausted but love my Pancake Saturdays with my loves. While pictures don't show real, every day life, the ups, the downs, and the in betweens, I do have to say that they capture the love behind it all. No matter what struggle or frustration I may encounter during the week, I am so thankful for these moments. I'm thankful that I have them because they make each day special in their own right. They make life real, and all worth it. So to my loves, bring on the Mickey, the loads of laundry, and dishes in the sink. I'm thankful for our couch cuddles, our story time reads, outside play time, and all that makes our life our little family.

Good, Good Father: Easter Family Addition

Lord,
You are a good, good father
                                                  lyrics by Housefires

It's who you are, It's who you are
It's who you are
And I'm loved by you
It's who I am, It's who I am
It's who I am
  Because you are perfect in all of your ways
You are perfect in all of your ways
You are perfect in all of your ways to us
I am perfectly reminded how truly perfect our God is. I am so thankful for a God that is more than I'll ever be. It is by faith that I walk each day and I'm so thankful to share the love of our Father to this baby beauty. I am so head over heels for this crazy life and for this beautiful family. God is good all the time. You are a good, good father.

Our Dinosaur Fan???

Our Saturday afternoon trip to the Dallas Zoo led us to see the Giants of the Jurassic. While Ray and I both thought it was pretty neat, our Auby was not a fan of the giant, noise making, and water spitting, animatronic dinosaurs. She did seem to really enjoy the train around picnic park.
{Daddy Love- Keeping baby girl safe from the dinosaurs.}

{Waiting in line for the choo-choo}
 {Our girl is all smiles on the choo-choo.}
We surely loved our fun Saturday trip to the zoo. While the weather was predicted to be rather chilly, it was a perfect afternoon of family fun in the sun teaching Auby about fun animals.

2 Little Piggies, Bubbles, & Butterflies

I just adore this sweet little face. Each and every day she is becoming such a big little girl. I love her two new little piggies. It absolutely cracks me up that her new favorite place is sitting and watching Mickey or reading a book on her plastic slide. I never would have believed that we would have a slide in our living room, or a garden, or a second kitchen. Thank you Little Tikes and all other children's makers of toys. But our lady loves it and I wouldn't want it any other way.
Each morning, afternoon, evening, before bedtime, during school, and pretty much at all times... this is what our little girl looks like... smiling with book in hand... unless it is a fussy night and it is tears with book in hand.
Our little girl loves her new bubble wand. Thank you Fantlet friends. Enjoy a few pictures of her bubble fun.

Our afternoon at the park led us to several of Auby's favorite play places. From riding the horsey, to playing with the tactile boards, to playing on the xylophone, going through the tubes, sliding down the slide (her personal favorite), and pulling herself down the conveyer belt, she loves her park fun. Our new favorite skill is pointing out the "bufferfies."

Loving these new little stages for our big little girl with 2 little piggies, bubbles, & bufferfies.

Our Week on Instagram

This week was filled with lots of ups, a few downs, and some random in betweens. But regardless I was reminded of what truly matters. Thankful for love, faith, support, and amazing family. #priorities

I just love my two twinsies at church! Happy Sunday.
 A sweet stop at Double Dip for dessert!
 Adoring my sweet baby cuddles before nap time today. #mommyaubylove
 I love my little bit shy girl as she knows when to turn the charm on with sweet little friends. Love her baby interactions.

 House is an absolute mess. Laundry is strung out in about 3 rooms. Counters are covered in the kitchen and to be honest I have no clue how long the laundry has been sitting in the dryer... Oops! But our little family trip to Hope Park and dinner at Cheezies made any troubles of the day disappear!
 Dog pile with my Fantlet babes. Aubs was a bit confused but I couldn't stop cracking up. Love these kids and sweet Tuesday Mama moments together.
 3D Cloud fun with my firsties.
 She has the most beautiful eyes and they are for Mickey.
 I adore Auby's little piggies this morning. Happy Tuesday! And yes this babe is sitting on her plastic slide in the living room. Gotta love as it is her new favorite "chair"
 I absolutely love this sweet family! We had so much fun at Casa Ritas. So much salsa was eaten by my babe. Love our time with friends and baby Robert.
We enjoyed a fun Saturday afternoon at the Dallas Zoo. While Auby loved the animals, dinosaurs were not exactly her favorite. She did seem to really enjoy the train.

Special Saturday & Duke Baby Besties

While mommy and daddy were out, our sweet babe enjoyed a special Saturday with her Duke baby besties. The kiddos enjoyed a fun afternoon of outdoor baby play, sand and water tables, push toys, and friendly fun.
I love the way, the two girls were watching Jacob explore the toys. It is so amazing to think how much these kids have grown. I am so thankful to Stephanie and Adam for taking care of our girl. I love these sweet photos that captured their Saturday fun together.
