Our Weekend Wedding Anniversary! I'll let the pictures do the talking... well most of it anyway:)
It was Friday night that I was given a hint that we may or may not be going out of town for our anniversary. It would be Saturday afternoon that we were going to drop the dogs off at the Dukes... but beyond that everything else was a secret... and I couldn't be more anxious and of course excited. I did my best to try to weasle out hints or any information from the hubs, but he was too good for my attemps as he has been with me for almost 9 years now. So he smiled and just said...
it is a suprise. I did my best to pretend as though I was acting casual... calm cool and collected... but inside I was all sorts of excited and secretly trying to come up with any idea possible. So Saturday hit and it was time for some breakfast. After a very small deliberation... we were off to
Cafe Brazil.

After breakfast it was time to pick up my suprise at the bakery. I explained we had an 11:00AM appointment and could not be late. Once we arrived I explained about the one year wedding cake tradition. While I understand that it is custom to save the top layer of wedding cake... which we did... I also wanted some reassurance that in case the cake had become moldy or completely unedible that we had a backup. So I did just that. I ordered a layer that was modeled after Ray's groom's wii cake... chocolate with butter cream icing and of course in that same signature blue.
I think the cake turned out perfectly. Thank you Cakes Amore in Plano, TX. After picking up the special treat... we lounged for a few hours with the pups before it was time to head over to the Dukes for a puppy play night. (poor River Kitty was probably not as excited as miss Bella).

After dropping off the pups and saying our good-bye for the evening we were off. We did make a quick stop for some chick-fil-a lunch before we hit the road. I was reminded on this wonderful day... that I was a special chick:) I guess it's all about the little things!
... which is so true. That's what I loved about this weekend... the little things. It's about the little details that make a moment so special... and that's exactly what my husband did. For our anniversary, he made reservations at The Carleton House
Bed & Breakfast to celebrate our first anniversary. I couldn't have been more excited for a wonderful night away just the two of us to celebrate such a special moment in our lives. Happy Anniversary to my love.
It was extremely obvious how much care and time had been given to presserve the home. Upon arrival we were given the tour of the house as well as informed about the history behind it. It was absolutely amazing to see how many pieces really did stand the test of time. I absolutely loved its character and charm. Here is some history found from its website

The Carleton House Bed & Breakfast Located in the heart of historic downtown Bonham, Texas, in North Texas, just one hour from Dallas is the Historic Carleton House Bed & Breakfast. The House was built in 1888 by A.J. Clendenen, who operated a grocery and produce store on the square. In 1914 , Dr. J. C. Carleton purchased the home for his family and electricity was introduced at this time. This newly renovated three story Victorian, listed on the National Register of Historic Homes, features a large entrance hall, a parlor, dining room with ceiling mural, music room, breakfast area and a large staircase leading to the bedrooms. We are also fortunate enough to have one of the two remaining carriage stones left in Fannin County. The home, sitting on a landscaped half acre with remnants of its original gardens is also available for weddings and parties or just an evening stroll.

Before dinner, Ray and I enjoyed some champagne from our private balcony. It was absolutely beautiful... and unexpectedly cold. We enjoyed a wonderful sunset then returned inside for a private table for two.
We enjoyed a dinner for two with candlelight and music. The food was absolutely delicious. It was a five course meal of the most wonderful food. It included homemade dinner rolls and croissants, artichoke heart appetizer with mozzarela, garden salad, chicken parmesan and spaghetti, and warm chocolate cake topped with homemade vanilla ice cream and a carmel glaze on top. I was absolutely stuffed. What an amazing and relaxing time.
The next morning we awoke by 9:00 and breakfast was served at 10:00 upon our request. While I do love my puppies... it was amazing to be able to sleep in even if it was just for a night.

We enjoyed homemade cinnamon rolls, an egg omlet, two pieces of bacon, a side of fruit, and morning tea and orange juice.

After breakfast we went for a morning stroll in the Model A car. Of course we had to get into the mood by wearing old fashioned hats.

We then rode around Bonham in the Model A car... enjoying the town and all of its history... as we ourselves are making our own history and celebrating our first wedding birthday.

I couldn't have imagined a more perfect celebration. It's all about the little things. I am so thankful for a husband who reminds me of that. So here's to many more 365 days and to wherever they may take us:)
