Tear Jerker Thursday: Movies

Thanks Farrah (my wonderful sister-in-law) for giving me this blog post idea! This Friday, the much anticipated "Dear John" comes out in theaters. I absolutely cannot wait to see it... sadly I don't think it'll be this weekend but definitely sometime soon!

What can I say. I am a softy for tear jerker movies. It must be something about love stories and sappy but heart felt music that really draw me in. In case you were wondering...

The song in the Dear John movie trailer is by Snow Patrol, Set The Fire To The Third Bar. Martha Wainwright did the female vocals.

Plus the movie is written by the same author who created The Notebook! This is huge in my book! So this got me thinking. What are some other movies that will fall into this category that I sadly haven't seen yet. Here are a few...

I can't wait to have a movie watching party... but this time I know it'll have to be with a box of tissues! What are your thoughts on these movies?

Alicia

Wordless Wednesday!

Here is my cute little kiddo, Toby... I think this picture says it all. On cold gray days like today, I would want nothing more than to curl up on the couch with a nice warm blanket.

Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs!

This past Tuesday some good friends from our ABF joined us for dinner and a movie...
I think the title says it all!

Earlier this week, Ray had found a great recipe for a meatball stew. It wasn't until we invited our friends and chosen the movie that we realized how perfect the dinner choice had been. Boy was it yummy!

Anyway so we enjoyed a great meal, fun conversation, exciting games of word scrabble, and then watched our movie! It was absolutely too cute!

Such a wonderful Tuesday with such great friends!

Time Out Tuesday: Puxsutawney Phil!

Tue Feb 2, 8:25 am ET

PUNXSUTAWNEY, Pa. – The groundhog has spoken. And it's bad news.

Punxsutawney (puhnk-suh-TAW'-nee) Phil has emerged to see his shadow before chilly revelers in Pennsylvania, meaning winter will last another six weeks.

German tradition holds that if a hibernating animal sees its shadow on Feb. 2 — the Christian holiday of Candlemas — winter will last another six weeks. If no shadow is seen, legend says spring will come early.

The Inner Circle of the Punxsutawney Groundhog Club annually announces Phil's forecast at dawn on Gobbler's Knob, about 65 miles northeast of Pittsburgh.

Phil's announcement came before hundreds of onlookers who huddled as temperatures hovered in the teens.

The Groundhog Club says since 1887 Phil has predicted more winter weather by seeing his shadow nearly 100 times, but there are no records for nine years.

Ok, well we all heard it... it's time for more bundling up, hot chocolate with marshmellows, and oversized pjs! Bring it on:)

Weekend Wrap Up!

It is strange to me how quickly time has flown by. Already we are saying hello to a new month of this new year. How crazy?!?! Well before I will be ready for Feb, I'd love to wrap up the last weekend of January!

This past weekend was amazing and oh so necessary!!!

Friday, we attended Kaylan's 3rd annual Wine & Cheese Party and it was a blast! View here for more details.

Saturday, Ray and I were able to sleep in! You should probably know that sleeping in means between 10:30 and noon. I know I know. I write this only because I will want to remember what it was like when we were still able to do so;) This past week had been so exhausting, I was so happy to be able to stay in bed for as long as I wanted:) After we FINALLY got up, we had breakfast and then spent a larger part of the morning/afternoon taking our time getting ready.

Saturday morning cinnamon rolls... yum

Well shall I say this was a very cold wintery morning. When we left Kaylan's on Friday, a small amount of snow/ice was on cars... Is it sad that my first thought when there is white stuff on the car that it is bird poo?!?!... hey I did live in Houston for most of my life... this snow/ice thing is a little strange to me! Plus I lived on Northside in College and always wound up parking under large trees... so anyway boy it was a cold day... but we decided to brave it and go out to Firewheel Mall and do a little bit of shopping and exchanging at Old Navy and Macys.

Saturday night we had dinner plans with some sweet friends from our church group, the Links and Hoopers!

The Links!

The Hoopers!

and yes the Zellners:)

Ray and I had soooo much fun! The night consisted of good food, a fun game of cranium, and great conversation with friends. For dinner we had two types of enchiladas, a very yummy corn/bread casserole dish that I believe Katy referred to as the bottom of the pan casserole:) (oh it was so good), salad, margaritas, and I made a sopapilla cheesecake! We were having so much fun I didn't realize that it was after 1AM when we left! So the moment I got home I hit the bed and was out:) PS: Thank you Katy for letting me "borrow" your pictures! I love that you love taking pictures and have such a great eye for it:)

Sunday, Ray and I went to our ABF for the Heights Baptist Church. We learned a great deal about Fishing for Men and the importance of keeping His word simple! I love our church and am so thankful we get to share and serve in such an amazing place.

After church was last Sunday lunch at Burger House off Campbell and Coit! It was very tasty and so good to see everyone! After lunch Ray and I went back home and RELAXED with our fam of 4. Here are cute pics with the pups!

I hope you all have had a wonderful weekend and a great start to your week! More pictures will be coming soon to a blog near you:)
