ONE plus two

Aubrey turns ONE!
I know sweet girl. Mommy has written not 1, not 2, but 3 posts now about you turning ONE! I promise this is the last. I didn't want to forget any detail of your big day which would include your 1 year birthday stats (taken two days later)... thus the title of this post ONE plus two.

The day before your birthday we had been called by your daycare to come pick you up as you were running a fever and were not yourself. Mommy and daddy were both a bit heart broken as you could not be sick on your birthday. Quickly it was determined that your fever was a result from teething. It seems that your 8th tooth as well as your one year old molars are making their debut and you are NOT happy about it. So on your big birthday morning, you were not a fan of your early morning wake up time. But fever free you were and happy as could be once you got that bottle. Again we switched you to milk a few days before which you don't seem to mind one bit. Once you came down stairs and drank your bottle, I think you finally realized that your usual chair had changed. Yes it was officially time for a big girl chair and what would a birthday be without balloons? For breakfast daddy made you heart pancakes. You really seemed to enjoy your special pancake breakfast. Today was really hard to leave you at daycare. I wish I could have spent the whole day with you. But I did have a chance to play with you that afternoon at the daycare play ground. I loved watching you explore with the other kiddos. You are so fun!

This was your daycare sheet. I love that the ladies take such good care of you. They also made a sweet birthday card for you. It included a picture and sweet notes from all of your teachers. After daycare we ventured to Frisco and enjoyed a fun photo opt with you and your smash cupCAKE and enjoyed two Skype and facebook dates with your grandparents. What a truly special day!

Two days later, we went to your ONE year pedi appointment. I love your Pediatrician. He's not only amazing at what he does but has such a laid back personality that this anxious mommy loves.

You love all the toys in the office.
You love to play with our sunglasses as we wait.

We received a perfect checkup and you did great! You are long and lean (with a tiny head). I wonder who you take after? You of course were not a fan of the two shots you received, but after a quick cry, some love from mommy and daddy, a sad drive back, you were back to yourself and in full play mode once we were home. Happy First year sweet girl. We loved your ONE birthday plus receiving your great check up two days later.

Month-iversary Series: 12 months

Dear Auby,
It has finally happened sweet babe. My little new born has quickly grown up into a one year old. My oh my has this year been filled with so many crazy adventures. I have loved the endless smiles, the sweet baby hugs, sloppy kisses, nights of cuddling, and the new exploration. Each new baby stage has brought endless amounts of entertainment and fun. With that being said, we are so thankful that you have been such an easy baby. Being a new parent is the most rewarding job but it too has its share of challenges. While there is no manual or rule book, you continue to amaze us daily. I have loved watching your personality shine through. Our sweet interactions, the way you wrap your arms around my neck and lay your head on my shoulder, and your sweet voice saying mama, my heart is full.

I will have to say that not everything this month has been picture perfect. From ear infections, hand foot and mouth, and viruses, the month leading up to your special day kept you a bit under the weather. With tubes, meds, and lots of rest, we are officially on the mend... or so we thought. Your eight tooth officially decided to make it's full debut which caused fever and fussiness. You also have received three boo-boo reports this past month alone. You are definitely a girl on the go. To my lovely little, here are all of your fun twelve month updates. Continue to grow, change, love, and explore.
Date
: 10/7/2014
Age: Twelve Months
Measurements: Weight: 20 lbs 7.5 oz (39th%); Height: 30 1/2 in (88th%); Head Cir: 17 1/4 in (16th %)
Clothing: You are officially in 12 and 12-18 month clothing. You wear size 3 shoes but they are getting a bit snug. We are so thankful for the sweet hand-me-downs from friends. Plus it is always fun to see our little girl wear some of our friend's favorites.
Eating:  You are eating all big girl food and are officially 100% on cow's milk. You drink about 16-20oz of milk per day. We transitioned you over a few days before your special day. You didn't seem to notice at all. You are still drinking milk from a bottle but we are hoping (fingers crossed) to transition you to a cup this weekend. It would be wonderful not to have to clean bottles anymore, but all in good time. In regards to food, you have become a bit of a picky eater though. Your favorite foods are carrots, graham crackers, macaroni and cheese, steak fajita meat, black beans, and ditalini pasta. You will sign more and finished (your version of course) during your meal time. From time to time you mix up the two signals, which confuses mommy quite a bit. When you get frustrated your hands quickly go to your hair which typically means another bath time. You do not like to wait in your chair for mommy and daddy to finish eating. You've got places to go, chairs to move, and toys to play with. But boy do you love throwing food this month. You have always enjoyed feeding the pups by putting your food on the floor, but now we quickly have learned to push food from our tray. A cute side of eating would be how you like to feed mommy and daddy.

Sleeping: I love that you let us know when you are tired and the way you communicate with us by saying nigh-night and ba-ba. You have slept great through the night except for a few nights when you had ear infections. You usually ask to go down or show signs that you want to go down between 6:30 and 7:00PM. You sleep until we wake you up during the week (my favorite part of the day) or until 7:00AM on weekends. I am so thankful that you are a pretty good sleeper. It is so fun to watch you on the monitor. Since you were in my tummy sweet girl you have been on the move. You like to sleep on your back and sides the most.

We truly are amazed by you each and every day. To every new learned skill, to your adorable dimpled smile, and your fun little personality, you are the light of our lives. We are truly blessed to be your parents and are so thankful for the past 365 days of adventure.

Today has been such an emotional day. I have never been happier to celebrate our love for you and your first year of life as well as sad that time has flown by so quickly. In the blink of an eye, my baby is now one! It seems as though each stage has become my favorite. You are so fun sweet girl and are really showing your little personality.

From sassy to sweet, and shy and loving, you are everything we could have imagined and wanted in our sweet girl.
We have loved your curious side.
You absolutely love to explore!

You are such a happy baby but you will let us know when you are unhappy.

For the next 365 days, may life be super sweet.
May it be filled with excitement and wonder. May we take a few stumbles (small ones, please) because it is only through those sticky times that we learn and grow. Happy First Birthday sweet girl!!! This was surely the icing on the cake!

Our Neightborhood Fall Family Picnic

Sunday afternoon, Daddy, Auby, and I made our way to our neighborhood's fall family picnic. It was so exciting to see all of the families and fall festivities combined for an afternoon of good ole fashion fall fun. From pumpkin patches, carving, decorating, face painting, a petting zoo, and lots of delicious eats, our little family of three had such a fun afternoon together. Poor babe was a bit tired as her nap schedule had been a bit non existent with church. So we made due. Once little miss had a sampling of a chocolate chip cookie and they turned on some sweet tunes, she was all smiles and in full on bouncing and dancing mode.

Our first stop was the small animal petting zoo. The animals included goats, baby pigs, bunnies, chickens, hamsters, and a lama. Auby usually loves animals but was a bit nervous around the sleeping goat. She was a bit unsure and definitely wanted to be held but all and all it was a fun first exposure to a petting zoo.

Within the picnic area, there was a pumpkin patch. Daddy chose the pumpkin and a few fun decorating materials. We are still at the phase of everything going into our mouth so we had to improvise a bit. She loved the colorful pom pom balls... again in her mouth;)
What a great afternoon of good eats and pumpkin treats at our neighborhood fall family picnic.

Robert's Barn Yard First Birthday Bash

Saturday we enjoyed a fun afternoon of barn yard and birthday play. We celebrated baby Robert and his first birthday. Baby Rob's mommy and I were roommates in college and our babes are five days apart. It has been such a special treat to watch our kiddos grow up together and enjoy all the different stages of life. We are so thankful for them as well as so excited to celebrate our sweet baby friend.

So here's to a day of celebration, to pig and tractor fun, to our first experience with a piñata, tasting a delicious Cheeto, to adorable hand-crafted baby cakes, and lots of love. Happy Birthday sweet boy and a sweet birthday yee-ha!
