2 Year Anniversary Weekend

5 Hours, 4 glasses, 3 wineries, 2 amazing years of marriage, and one super cute German town= an amazing anniversary weekend to Fredricksburg.

Our weekend was filled with delicious homemade desserts, wine tastings, German eats, breakfast kolaches, secret gardens, clear river ice cream and soda shop, candy bar, Pacific War Museum, and a walk downtown. Here is to celebrating two years of daily adventure and to all those still to come!

We tasted three of the ten local wineries on Wine Road 290. We enjoyed wines from Grape Creek Vineyard, Becker Vineyards, and Torre Di Pietra Winery.

For dinner we ate at Friedhelms Bavarian Inn, a local German restaurant and inn. The food was absolutely delicious. For many weeks, both Ray and I had been fighting a terrible cold, my sinus infection, and other throat ailments. After dinner we definitely had to make a stop to the local Walmart for some good cough medicine and ended up turning in early. This was not exactly how I had envisioned the weekend but definitely the way it ended.

The next morning we definitely felt a lot better and picked up kolaches and cream cheese croissants at Hill Country Donuts and Kolaches. We took our breakfast to a local park and enjoyed our breakfast in Pioneer Garden. The wind was a bit cool in the shade, a local cat definitely way eyeing my breakfast, and a few insect friends did make this trip a bit shorter than expected.

After breakfast we decided to take a walk around Fredericksburg and enjoy some local sights and of course taste some delicious treats. We enjoyed ice cream sodas from Clear River's ice cream shop and sampled fudge from Lone Star Candy Bar. We then journeyed to the Pacific War Museum and later made our way to Pasta Bella for lunch.

We were stuffed. The intention was to stop by the Auslander for a beverage but decided we were both tired, stuffed, and ready to return home to relax:) It was definitely a fun weekend to celebrate two amazing years together! I am so thankful for the moments we've shared. Happy two years to my love!

Saturday Roadtip to Aggieland!

Saturday morning at 7:30AM I asked my husband if he was adventurous. I'm sure he was not assuming I meant driving the three hour trek to College Station. But one of the things I love about my husband is his "go with the flow" mentality and his wonderful ability to make me happy. So that's what we did. By 9:00AM we were both up (some more awake than others:), packed a few items for our trip, gassed the car, and picked up breakfast, a monster, AND redbull to go. The weather had indicated that there would be a 30% chance of rain today, but nothing would "rain" on our parade. With skies perfectly clear, we were off to our destination... Aggieland!

Aggieland had looked a bit different from our last trip together a year or two ago... which happened to coincide with Aggieland Saturday. This time we found the campus nearly empty... which had allowed us to walk pretty much from one end of campus to another... just us. It was such a wonderful site. We revisited past memories from our dorms on northside to the field we had all played football and Frisbee, to the Underground Food Court where we had dinned and I had previously worked, to Sbisa Dinning Hall

and fishpond... emptied... sadly no swimming:(

As we passed by new buildings, I began to notice all the construction in the far distance where the old MSC had stood. So many changes had taken place, I almost didn't recognize it. 2012 was what the sign had said when all changes were to be completed. I just couldn't imagine no MSC in Aggieland? We then headed to where the bookstore had been moved... G Rollie White.

While in the bookstore, my husband of course picked out the cutest Aggie teacher mug (still in progress of course:) but it truly was such a special moment for me. I'm so thankful for his support and everyone who has been supporting this transition! Such a very wonderful and exciting time!

After the bookstore and enjoying some of the cool air... as the day had gotten into the upper 90s, we then headed to Kyle Field for more pictures of course! (Kyle Field Rocks.. A WHOOP!)

We even passed by the Aggie Clock Tower! And yes they do kind of resemble each other...;) Love you honey!

To be honest... I am so unsure what the eagle statue is about... but when i saw running water and a cute fountain I figured another amazing photo opt. So Aggies if you are familiar with this one... feel free to leave me a comment. Figure with all the traditions... I'm sure this one should be one I should know and keep in the repertoire. We then traveled back to Northside. We passed by Sull Ross where pennies still sat. "See a penny pick it up... all day long you'll have good luck" or something like that. Ha! It is said that placing pennies at Sull Ross' feet offers good luck to the one who gives. Plus all the money is said to go to an education scholarship fund. So definitely someone receives good luck!

Our next stop is always one of my favorites.... The Century Tree! This absolutely one of my all time favorite Aggie Traditions. It is said that you are to wed the person you walk beneath the branches with.... typically a key place for proposals. For me its just a magnificent site and also represents love:) Enjoy some pictures taken under the beautiful branches of the Aggieland Century Tree.

After a long walk around campus, Ray and I decided to head to Northgate for some lunch.

For lunch we stopped at Fitzwilly's for some food and drinks. Ray dinned on hot wings while I had some super tasty chicken tacos with chips and salsa.

Do not let these smiles fool you. Oh we were happy of course... but we were extremely hot from walking around campus... notice the red cheeks! It was a nice break from the summer heat.

After lunch we traveled past Northgate to the one thing I've never understood. I'm sure there are a couple... but this is a site to behold. Bottle cap alley. I just call it tetnus way... but again does not really call my name to walk through while wearing flip flops. It does make for a fun picture. So I shot one just to show you.

After lunch we headed to Research Park where we previously used to take walks and had a very sweet Valentine's Day picnic several years ago.We took a quick stroll around the park noticing all the gigantic turtles in the pond. There were so many... if only we had a snack for them to eat... next time!

For those of you who are not familiar with Fazolis.... you may not understand this next little adventure my husband and I took. But even though we had eaten just a few short hours before... it was an absolute must that we stopped by to pick up some bread sticks.

They were just as amazing as I had remembered them.
Oh how I missed you!

Before we ended our trip to College Station, we took a small detour to the Messina Hof Winery where we did a tour and tasting. Enjoy some pictures of our adventures.

What a wonderful Saturday filled with adventures and memories. I am so thankful for a husband who enjoys my quirks...even if that is waking him up at 7:30 on a Saturday!
