Rail Way Country Get Away

This past weekend, the husband planned a super secret and super fun family get away to Country Woods Inn in Glen Rose, TX. It was an amazing opportunity to recharge, to rekindle, and to enjoy the calm of the great outdoors.

Friday: Our first stop was at an adorable restaurant called Storiebook Cafe. It was within a few minutes of our Bed and Breakfast.

The decor pieces were absolutely adorable and it had a children's play area while you waited for your meal. From dress up, to becoming a friendly dragon, riding away into the sunset as the sweetest little cowboy, and even the cutest of tea parties, our kids had so much play fun.

After lunch, Ray surprised me with where we would be staying. It was this adorable train car that was transformed into a lodge.

I adored all of the little train decor, kids toys, railway dress up, train toys, etc. It was absolutely perfect. After we dropped off our things, changed, and were ready to explore the grounds.

Our rail car was not on the main road so it gave us some fun privacy and seclusion. We enjoyed a walk down to the main barn to enjoy a little fun on the farm.

We loved seeing our favorite barn animals including the chickens, rooster, pig, horsey, goats, donkey, bunnies, and absolute favorite Chiggerbite the pony.

As we explored the grounds at County Woods Inn, said hello and fed some of the most adorable little animals, we made our way to the River Walk.

Not so far down the road we came upon Big Rocks Park

At Big Rocks, we enjoyed dipping our feet in the water, searching for fishies, and splashing through the water. We stayed until dinner time and made our way back to our rail way car.  After putting the kids to bed, Ray and I enjoyed time together.

Our first day was filled with lots of fun new adventures. Our night while comfortable was interrupted by an adorable little one that was out of his element and was up for quite some time... but finally we got some great sleep.

Saturday
The next morning, breakfast was offered at the breakfast barn down by the main house. It was an adorable barn and set up with a delicious spread of food options.

After breakfast and a quick hello to our favorite animals, we were ready for a morning of exploration and hiking on the trails.

And we finished our last night on our rail way get away with the perfect camping sweet treat.

I am so thankful for this amazing weekend away. A weekend celebrating our little family in the great outdoors.
